NW Yacht Group is a full-service yacht company, and the only yacht charter/sales/service/training organization in the Pacific Northwest with multiple locations in both Canada and the USA. We offer charters, flotillas, training courses, maintenance/repair and brokerage services, and have a fleet of about 60 power and sail boats in our care. Our service operations in Canada are in Sidney, BC and North Saanich, BC. We also have two mobile service units that allow us to respond to vessel breakdowns and provide support services anywhere on Vancouver Island and the sunshine coast. Our Service Technicians are captivated by boats and have a passion for the marine industry. As a company we strive to train and encourage our technicians to be the best at their craft, to care deeply about their work, and to be constantly upgrading their skills. Our Service Technicians operate in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities all while remaining friendly, respectful and professional. **ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES** - Repair vessels with care and precision, to a consistently high standard. - Perform technical "check in's" of vessels returning from charter trips to ensure they are mechanically ready for their next trip. - Recommend preventative maintenance to reduce vessel down time. - Work within approved hours for each repair, understanding that if the scope of work changes, communication to the service writer and/or service manager is essential. - Adhere to ABYC standards as the benchmark for all work performed by our technicians. - Maintain and improve your tool inventory to constantly be better equipped to various types of jobs and in different environments (i.e. a "go bag" for on-water jobs) - Constantly improving your communication skills and refining your knowledge of most up-to-date equipment, practices, and technology. **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**: - Strong customer service orientation. - Sufficient knowledge of boat engines/equipment to advise customers on a variety of services, including minor repair, scheduled maintenance programs, full commissioning, and refit. - Proficiency in identifying and delivering service solutions to meet business needs. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. - Effective organizational and time management skills. - Demonstrated ability to take initiative and effectively manage changing priorities. - Detail-oriented with excellent follow through skills. **Education & Experience** (we are willing to train in the areas noted below) - Technical background working in the pleasure boat industry. - Experience with diesel engines, gas outboards, electronics and marine plumbing - Working knowledge of ABYC standards. - Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office. **Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent **Salary**: $30.00-$45.00 per hour **Benefits**: - Casual dress - Dental care - Extended health care - Paid time off - Vision care Flexible Language Requirement: - French not required Schedule: - 8 hour shift - Monday to Friday - Weekend availability Supplemental pay types: - Overtime pay Work Location: One location
