**Position Overview**

Under the supervision of the Manager of Finance and Administration, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of assigned accounting functions including payables and receivables. The Accounting Clerk is also responsible for some daily banking transactions such as processing payments and deposits.

The Accounting Clerk also:

- Acts as the first point of contact for the APSEA Centre, responding and redirecting phone calls, greeting and directing in-person visitors as necessary.
- Processes invoices and other payments in a timely manner.
- Requires ongoing professional communication with customers and vendors. This individual will have regular contact with APSEA employees at all levels across the organization, and with outside agencies and vendors.
- Performs collection activities on outstanding accounts receivable, including the distribution of detailed statements of account to customers. Facilitates the resolution of disputed invoices. Prepares and distributes customer receipts.
- Is responsible for daily handling and security of all cheques, cash, and Point of Sale (POS) payment(s) received through the Finance department.
- Communicates with vendors on payment information for direct deposit.

**Education and Qualifications you Bring**:

- Completion of a business diploma in accounting or a related field. A recognized equivalency may be accepted.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in an accounting environment including the operation of an accounting system, using functions such as invoices and receipts.
- Proficiency in data entry and Microsoft Word, ability to learn various software and database programs, including spreadsheets (Excel), Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 platforms. Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word is preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Ability to work independently to meet current demands/deadlines, while working effectively in a team atmosphere.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Brings knowledge of accounting best practices and knowledge of processing accounts receivables and payables.
- Has the ability and willingness to stay current with various accounting requirements.
- Ability to provide exceptional front-line customer service.
- Tact, diplomacy, and strict confidentiality are essential as this individual frequently accesses confidential information.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is an asset.
- Proficiency in French would be an asset.

**Offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of all applicable background checks and confirmation of credentials.**

Pay: $43,784.00-$48,988.42 per year
