**Parent Support Services Coordinator**

**Purpose**

The Parent Support Services Coordinator (PSSC) acts as both a clinician and mental health consultant to provide support to families within the Ottawa community and works as a member of the Family Resilience Program team at the Parent Resource Centre (PRC). The PSSC supports clients by facilitating tailored parenting courses, oversees the daily management of the Parent Support Line and coordinates the walk-in counselling clinic.

The PSSC provides competent and empathetic services to parents, caregivers and their families while ensuring that service delivery supports the Parent Resource Centre’s strategic priorities and mandate. They further ensure that the programs and services the PRC offers are based on current, evidence-based best-practices and comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Client Support**

**Parent Support Line**
- Supervise and lead the expansion of the PRC’s Parent Support Line (PSL) including establishing workplans, priorities and performance standards, implementing case management software, implementing operational standards and fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
- Ensure PSL counselling practices and procedures align with ethical guidelines, legal requirements, and organizational policies.
- Support families and professionals through the PRC’s Parent Support Line (PSL).
- Promote the PSL within the community, engage community partners and seek funding opportunities to increase families reached and served by the PSL.

**Parent Workshops & Counselling**
- Develop and manage project plan to implement growth of FRP’s parenting groups and workshops.
- Facilitate Circle of Security parenting groups, workshops and support groups based on the needs of our clients, community and PRC’s strategic directions.
- Manage case files and ensure that services, including intake, assessment, transition and discharge planning is delivered in a coordinated and timely fashion.
- Refer clients to community programs as appropriate.

**Walk-in-Counselling Services**
- Work with FRP Manager to support the development of a pilot walk-in-counselling service at the PRC under the FRP.
- Provide clinical counselling / psychotherapy to clients during walk-in hours.
- Ensure quality client care that is consistent with best practices, PRC standards, and evidence-based approaches (particularly brief counselling modalities and narrative therapy).
- Provide culturally sensitive and direct services to parents and caregivers.
- Provide advocacy and referrals to help clients access relevant community services.
- Create a safe, non-judgemental space for families to seek situational counselling.
- Promote services and engage in partnerships to support services within the community.

**Coordination & Project Management**
- Maintain statistical data regarding the PRC’s Family Resilience Program.
- Maintain FRP related materials, manuals and handbooks and keeps them up to date.
- Produce timely reports as required ensuring information that measures and evaluates the quality of care and service delivery to clients across FRP services.
- Keep up-to-date client files using approved template and procedures.

**Communication & Administration**
- Review and support the development of social media and website content related to the FRP program.
- Attend relevant agency and strategic meetings to gather and share information specific on parenting supports and promote PRC programs.
- Provide information and promotes PRC’s programs and services to individuals and agencies/businesses.
- Foster community partnerships to support the growth of evidence-based parenting programs and services, particularly for high needs and priority populations.
- Attend staff, team and supervision meetings, as established.
