Armour Heights Community Centre at 2140 Avenue Rd is looking for a

Children's Recreational Basketball Coach to join our sports staff.

The position is for the spring session which begins on Thursdays in mid March.

The coach will instruct 2 classes for children ages 7 to 9 and 8 to 11.

The location is our large gym.

The hours are 4:00 to 6:15pm.

The session will continue until June 20th and will resume in September on a reoccurring contact basis running throughout the school year, with winter and spring breaks.

**Duties**:

- Develop and implement basketball training programs that are age appropriate for children.
- Teach fundamental basketball skills, strategies, and techniques while ensuring safety of students.
- Plan and conduct practice sessions to develop student skills and teamwork.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
- Motivate and inspire players to reach their full potential and foster a positive, inclusive environment

**Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with students, parents, and staff members.
- Ability to educate and train students
- Organizational skills to plan and lead practice sessions
- Leadership qualities to motivate and inspire students

**Requirements**:
Must be able to attend on time and regularly.

Minimum one year of coaching experience with children.

Must have or be willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Screening.

**About Armour Heights Community Centre**

Located near Wilson Avenue and the 401, the Community Centre has been offering

recreational classes to children from infancy to age 17 since 1984.
