**Immigrant & Refugee Services Association PEI (IRSA)**, a not-for-profit organization originally founded in 1993, is seeking a **Volunteer Coordinator** to join us on our mission of building a welcoming and inclusive environment through bringing diverse communities together and empowering newcomers to build a future in PEI.
We help all newly landed immigrants and newcomers to Canada through providing vital support in the areas of short-term settlement services, long-term inclusion and community integration programs in the province of Prince Edward Island.

**How You’ll Spend Your Time**
As a secondary focus, you will be working with our Community Engagement team, and assisting in the delivery and execution of programming including, Canada Connects, EAL sessions, Group Activities, Canada School Programming and other IRSA Annual events, with the goal of newcomer’s successful integration into the local community.
This role collaborates across departments to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote IRSA’s vision, mission and core values.
**Responsibilities**:
- Attract, recruit, and retain volunteers for all programs and services offered by IRSA, developing programs to ensure long-term engagement and involvement.
- Ensure volunteers undergo a criminal record check, maintain a copy of the CRC in their files, and have signed all required forms.
- Manage volunteer data, ensuring records are accurate, up-to-date, and securely stored in IRSA’s client management system.
- Maintain easily accessible and well-organized files, while generating regular reports on engagement, hours, and program outcomes.
- Assist in planning and scheduling volunteers for special events or campaigns, ensuring alignment with IRSA’s mission and strategic goals.
- Develop, update, and ensure full relevant and engaging training for volunteers, including cultural inclusion training.
- Supervise and support volunteers, addressing conflicts or challenges that arise and maintaining a professional work environment.
- Provides advocacy and supportive services to clients and volunteers, referring them to internal/external resources, including counseling services and support for navigating government systems and community resources.
- Collects and analyze feedback from volunteers and stakeholders through surveys, interviews, and other means to assess program effectiveness.
- Use this data to monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve volunteer programs, ensuring alignment with IRSA’s mission and reporting progress to funding partners as required.
- Works closely with program leads and other departments to integrate volunteers into various initiatives, ensuring that volunteer efforts align with IRSA's strategic goals.
- Oversee the Canada Connects program. In this role, you will match suitable volunteers with clients, previously trained by the Volunteer Coordinator, who need extra help getting settled and integrated into the community.
- Volunteerism may, at times, come in the form of monetary or goods/services donations, and the coordinator will ensure that these are received, distributed, and accounted for properly.
- Provides certificates or letters of reference (as appropriate, when requested).
- Liaises with community organizations to form partnerships for assisting newcomers with community integration related concerns.
- Is committed to ongoing process review and improvement to further the efficiency of the above listed duties.
**What You Bring**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Education, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field, with at least 1 year of relevant experience in the role. (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience).
