We’re seeking a manager for our manufacturing group at Open Ocean Robotics. This purpose-driven and collaborative team produces our robotic boats that collect ocean and maritime data for our customers.

**General Responsibilities**

We are looking for a proven leader to manage our manufacturing team. You will be responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team members on a daily basis as you commit to and deliver on production timelines. As the manager, you will be the contact point for all team members, you will be adept at collaborating, learning, continuous improvement, and production management. You will need to be a coach, learner, organizer, and a hands-on coordinator for the team. You should also be able to act proactively to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration. You will need to build a structured environment focused on quality in an innovative and adaptive start-up company.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
- Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, delegate tasks, and set deadlines
- Set weekly, monthly, and quarterly production and manufacturing goals
- Monitor team performance and report on metrics to management
- Motivate team members, suggest, and organize team-building activities
- Discover training needs and provide coaching
- Listen to team members’ feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts
- Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments
- Encourage creativity and risk-taking
- Deliver a quality product
- Manage the occupational health and safety needs of the team
- Maintain and improve the facility and manufacturing infrastructure
- Direct reports include, the manufacturing team, procurement, quality assurance and USV maintenance

**Requirements**:

- Engineering Technologist Diploma or Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Industrial preferred
- Proven work experience as a team leader or manager in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with an Enterprise Resource Platform / MRP or PLM system
- Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
- Quality management system experience or certification is an asset
- Ability to make and communicate decisions balancing long term strategic direction with short term deadlines
- Previous experience overseeing multiple disciplines such as procurement and logistics, maintenance and quality is preferred
- Experience working with a diverse group of people & building team culture

**Conditions**

This is a full-time permanent position based in Victoria, B.C. available for immediate start. This position is not eligible for remote work arrangements. Open Ocean Robotics does not sponsor work visas.
