Temporary Transportation Officer

Applications are invited for the position of a Full-Time Temporary Transportation Officer in Edson, in the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division.
**Location**: Educational Service Centre, Edson, Alberta
**Start Date**: Immediately
**Work Schedule**: 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday
This position is replacing a maternity leave until January 12, 2026 or upon return of the incumbent, whichever is sooner.
**The competition will remain open until**: October 11, 2024 at noon.
Background
Guided by the Division's vision, mission, beliefs, values, and goals, the Transportation Officer will assist and report to the Director of Transportation in fulfilling the general and specific aspects of the role.
Role and Responsibilities
Provide general office duties including but not limited to, scheduling meetings, responding to phones and radios, data entry, maintaining transportation files.
Audit and maintain bus routes, notify stakeholders when changes occur.
Maintain and audit bus drivers’ daily logs, trip inspections and other required reporting
Determine and process student eligibility for busing and if fees are to be assessed.
Ensure that bus drivers are maintaining their buses in a safe and clean condition.
Maintain all records necessary for the purpose of input/documentation for the Payroll Department personnel.
Support the Director in supervision and evaluation of staff.
Provide support for the safe transport of students to and from school and on field trips.
Address routing concerns regarding transportation.
Assist Director of Transportation with the preparation of grant claim submission.
Support the management of overall operations of the mechanical shop.
Assist Director of Transportation Services in preparing reports for the Board.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies/agencies.
Exhibit a high level of personal, professional and organizational integrity.
Handle other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation Services or Superintendent of Schools.
**Requirements**:
Possess a degree or diploma or other relevant certifications. Relevant work experience equivalency would be considered.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build, establish and maintain collaborative, service-oriented relationships with all stakeholders.
Strong Problem-solving and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and achieve high standards of service and performance.
Proficient in MS Office, Google Suites.
High degree of integrity and the ability to ensure confidentiality with sensitive information.
**Salary Range**: $45,000 - $55,000 annually.
