Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Recruitment and Admissions, the Assistant Director, Recruitment & Outreach is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing and evaluating strategies and tactics to attract and convert quality applicants to students. The main objectives are to develop and manage relationships with prospective applicants to meet enrolment goals on an annual basis and contribute to the outstanding global reputation of Smith School of Business. The incumbent will regularly liaise with stakeholders and partners at the University (e.g. Marketing, Professional Graduate Program Services, Development and Alumni Relations, Business Career Centre) and around the world (e.g. alumni, corporate partners, MBA recruitment event company representatives). The incumbent will be an integral member of the management team and work collaboratively with the Assistant Director, Recruitment and Admissions, Recruitment Advisors, Application Advisors and Program Directors.
The incumbent will represent Smith at traditional and non-traditional recruiting events globally. This role will require national and international travel.
**Job Description**:
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- In collaboration with the Program Directors, create an enrolment plan that lays out student recruitment objectives and the means of achieving them. This will include developing an annual and longer-term business plan to guide marketing and recruitment activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director, Recruitment and Admissions to support the Recruitment Advisor and Application Advisor teams
- Develop in collaboration with the Directors of our Master level programs a recruitment strategy embedding the individual needs into a broader national and international recruitment plan. The Assistant Director, Recruitment & Outreach will be responsible for the tactical execution of the recruitment strategy.
- Maintain oversight of the yearly student recruitment budget and ensure that costs are appropriately controlled throughout the year making recommendations for future year adjustments as required
- In partnership with PGP stakeholders, liaise with the Salesforce team to ensure that the customer relationship management system is working as effectively as possible to meet our goals; and make recommendations for optimization.
- Maintain an active seat on Admissions Committees and make informed recommendations about student admissions and scholarship decisions.
- Maintain an up to date understanding of the various master’s levels competitive landscape and make recommendations to the Directors accordingly.
- Represent the School and University:
- Participate in and advise on international engagement activities of the Business School and University as a whole, as needed.
- Participate in domestic and international student recruitment trips and attend relevant fairs and conferences in Canada and abroad.
- Represent the University on external committees, bodies and organizations as appropriate.
- Identify, develop and maintain relationships with key domestic and international partners. These include corporate contacts; trade commissioners and other contacts at Canadian embassies and consulates; alumni; current international students; governmental and non-governmental organizations involved with the marketing of Canadian education abroad, etc.
- Identify, develop and maintain relationships with key University partners. These include the Office of the University Registrar, Queen’s School of English, and Queen’s University International Centre.
- Contribute to the indirect supervision of staff within the PGP. Specifically, Recruitment Advisors, Application Advisors and the Program Manager
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Post-secondary degree with a focus on business; an MBA is an asset
- Five years’ experience in a similar recruitment role considered an asset
- Exceptional relationship-building ability
- Extensive experience working internationally and across cultures
- Extensive experience developing presentations and speaking to large and diverse audiences
- Student recruitment, marketing or public relations background is an asset
- Extensive experience in student recruitment or educational sales.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently towards objectives with mínimal supervision
- A familiarity with the University and its operating procedures, specifically the Smith MBA program is considered an asset
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally
