Job Summary**
**Working as part of the kitchen team, the Kitchen Helper at Phoenix Society is responsible for food preparation. Key responsibilities include preparing meal ingredients, maintaining a clean kitchen area, cleaning dishes and cooking instruments; and loading items for transport to the Society’s various locations in a safe, timely manner.**
**Responsibilities**:
**Food Services**
**×**Prepare meal ingredients for cooks, including washing, peeling, cutting and slicing ingredients**
**×**Assist kitchen staff to unload food supplies from delivery trucks**
**×**Store ingredients and food items according to food safety standards**
**×**Remove expired or spoiled ingredients from the refrigerator, freezer and stockroom**
**×**Clean and store all dishes, utensils and cooking instruments**
**×**Pack take-out orders as needed**
**×**Load, items for transport to the Society’s various housing locations in a safe, timely manner**
**×**Sanitize food service equipment (e.g., Cambro carts) when they are returned from meal service delivery**
**×**Remove garbage/compost, replace garbage/compost bags and wash garbage/compost bins**
**×**Mop and sweep kitchen areas as required**
**×**Other duties as assigned**
**Qualifications**
**×**Grade 10**
**×**Recent, related experience of one year in food preparation, cleaning or equivalent**Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience**Or other Qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work**
**×**Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is required**
**×**Satisfactory completion of Tuberculosis Screen form is required**
**×**Satisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Record form is required**
**×**First Aid certification with CPR is required**
**×**Food Safe Level 1 is required**
