**Job Description**:
What you'll be doing
As an Associate Vice-President, Communications and Public Affairs, you will provide strategic communications direction, leadership and planning to a broad range of business and functional group leaders at CIBC. You will align internal and external communications activities to our purpose, enterprise and business strategies, as well as ensure alignment with the overall communications strategy and objectives.

How you’ll succeed
- Strategic Communications and Planning - Provide advice and counsel to the senior leadership team based on communications expertise and sound judgement, providing leadership in the development and communication. Establish communication goals, strategies and tactics, including development of an annual communications plan, with buy-in from business leaders. Develop, lead and execute the communication strategies in alignment with the business and functional objectives and CIBC’s purpose, business strategies and priorities. Support presentations to the CIBC Board of Directors.
- Governance and Control - Work within the framework of Communications and Public Affairs policies, practices and procedures to identify and resolve reputational issues. Lead business recovery and crisis communications for the business.
- Operational and Business Effectiveness - Assess resources required for optimal communications and deployment. Develop and support clear accountabilities and processes that enable clear and disciplined communications across the business units. Maximize communications efficiencies.
- People Management and Leadership - Create a positive work environment and be an effective role model by championing CIBC’s purpose. Lead, manage and develop the team and provide ongoing advice and direction on a variety of complex conceptual or interpretative issues; keep the team highly focused on the deliverables required by the senior executives and each business group.
