We are seeking an **Occupational Health and Safety Student**, for our** Atlantic Canada** district in **Dartmouth, NS**, within our **Canadian Buildings Division**that is available**for **4 months** starting in **May 2025**.
As a **Occupational Health and Safety Student** and depending on your assigned project, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:
**Responsibilities**:
- Assisting the HSE Professional with inspections and incidental investigations
- Managing documents (ie. data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, filing etc.)
- Assisting with the orientation of new employees
- Developing of training materials
- Reviewing paperwork (ie. PSI, tailgate meetings, safework procedure, trend analysis)
- Monitoring and maintaining the environmental program
- Recognizing and following PCL and local legislative requirements
- Analyzing site-specific trends and incidents and reporting findings to district
- Gathering/reviewing/distributing safety-related statistical information
- Interpreting, communicating, and reinforcing project safety standards to workforce
**Qualifications**:
- Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures
- Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems which meet compliance
- Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards
- The ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent the likelihood of reoccurrence
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong willingness to learn
