**Temporary Part-Time Medical Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist**

**L’Hôpital de Mattawa Hospital is seeking a highly motivated temporary part-time Medical Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist to join its team for a duration of up to six (6) months.**

We are located in the town of Mattawa, Ontario. Our 19-bed Hospital is a designated bilingual facility “Together, Guided by Medicine, Inspired by Faith, in a Place called Home” and is dedicated to the people of Mattawa, East Nipissing, and other residents of Ontario. We are sponsored by the Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario and licensed under the Ministry of Health, and accredited by Accreditation Canada. Our goal is to use a team approach in order to provide a safe, clean, comfortable and pleasing atmosphere for patients and their families.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Responsible for greeting patients, ensuring proper patient identification procedures while maintaining patient confidentiality, and performing phlebotomies and special test collections (specimen collection process);
- Preparing samples for analysis, such as reagent preparation, smear preparation, urinalysis (excluding microscopic);
- Setting up ESR/Serology tests;
- Operation of automated instruments after proper functioning has been established by qualified staff;
- Responsible for responding to inquiries and following up on requests;
- Completing data entry of patient information, requisitions, and other information related to processing test results;
- Transcribing results from worksheets to reports; and
- Participating and conforming with the Laboratory’s Quality Management System and Safety procedures.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Graduate of an approved Laboratory Technician program or equivalent
- MLPAO certification
- Phlebotomy experience is an asset
- Bilingualism in both French and English is an asset (English is required)
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- Criminal record check for the vulnerable sector

Pay: From $28.99 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

- Mattawa, ON P0H 1V0: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
