**Position Title: Youth Gardener/Mower**
**Area of Specialty**: General
**Immediate Supervisor**: Horticulturist

**Position Summary**:

- General: Gardening and landscaping. To help maintain the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens to its expected standard of excellence.

**Duties**:

- General gardening duties including but not limited to the following: _mowing, tilling, whippersnipping, weeding, sweeping, raking, digging, hauling, sidecutting, transplanting, pruning, watering, edging, cleaning..._
- All other duties as relating to general maintenance of the gardens, and, upon occasion, performance of duties of a non-gardening nature as required for the overall good of the
- Gardens, as instructed by the Horticulturist.

**General Expectations on the Job**:

- must interact well with co-workers
- practice proper and safe use of tools and equipment
- positive interaction with visitors and responding to their inquiries
- able to work independently with mínimal supervision
- be vigilant about all safety protocols

**Skills Required (prerequisite)**:

- good interpersonal skills
- some gardening knowledge and experience an asset
- ability to use tools & equipment as directed
- able and willing to work in a variety of weather conditions
- physically able and willing to do heavy work, lifting, bending

**Equipment Used**:

- Gardening hand tools, lawn tractor, hand mower, tiller, whipper snipper, hedge trimmer, grinder, and other small tools, wheelbarrow and appropriate safety gear (eg. glasses, ear protection).
- Require safety shoes if mowing, tilling or other times when needed.

**Hours of Work**:

- Work Term: 8 weeks
- Hours: 35 hours per week. Half hour unpaid lunch.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 8 weeks

Pay: $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

**Benefits**:

- French not required

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
