**The Opportunity**:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for a Dryland Program Specialist to fill a permanent full-time position at the G.H. Dawe Community Centre. The program specialist is responsible for planning, developing and delivering programs and services for sport programs, summer/PD day camps, preschool programs, childminding, drop in activities and special events. In addition, this position is responsible for the leadership and supervision of multiple staff within the diverse portfolio. The applicant must meet the minimum requirements of the position with regard to education and experience within the dryland portfolio which must include a National Coaching Certification and certification or experience in Early Childcare.
- University undergraduate degree with major concentration in recreation or physical education, arts, culture or community development plus two years relevant professional recreation, parks or culture experience.
OR
- Diploma in recreation, physical education, arts, culture or community development from a post-secondary institute plus four years relevant recreation, parks or culture experience.
- Current qualifications are required in National Coaching Certification Theory Levels l and II
- Current qualifications are desirable in Alberta Fitness Leader Certification and an additional activity appropriate National Coaching Certification Technical Level I.
- Sound knowledge of the philosophies, principles and practices of public leisure services.
- Strong organizational skills and functions effectively in a fast-paced challenging environment.
- Strong background in recreation, parks and culture development, community engagement and facilitation.
- Works with an effective, proactive and creative approach in the design, development and execution of strategies and implementation plans.
- Demonstrates highly developed partnership and alliance building skills.
- Works independently or as part of a team.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in continuous learning and on-the-job training.
- Ability to manage performance, coach and guide staff and/or volunteers.

**Remuneration**:
$45.18 to $47.56 per hour.
**Hours of Work**:
80 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required to meet the needs of programs, special events and staff training.
