**Position Title**
- Video Specialist**Position Summary**
- Red Deer Polytechnic is looking for an individual with a passion to communicate the Polytechnic’s brand through high caliber visual media, using videography and photography, and produce content for both internal and external communication and marketing. We strive to provide our stakeholders with innovative marketing and communications strategies that are consistent with Red Deer Polytechnic’s overall brand image and connect with our institution’s diverse audiences.
- The Video Specialist will be responsible for producing and editing content for the web and media distribution that conveys the RDP experience furthering the polytechnic’s marketing and communications objectives. All aspects of photo and video projects from concept to completion will be managed by this position. The Video Specialist will collaborate and assist the Communications Strategist - Creative Writer to create persuasive content targeted toward current and prospective students, best suited for multichannel distribution**Position Responsibilities**
**Video Project Management**
- Support and advise internal requesting departments in the development of external communication strategies and key message content that support the overall strategic direction of the Polytechnic
- Meet with requesting departments and Marketing Strategists and to understand business need and scope of project requests
- Determine conceptual outcomes for video productions that achieve the stated goals of the project Video Brief
- Provide input into the story telling process and aesthetic style

- write scripts
- organize schedule
- plan production details and timelines and interview internal and external stakeholders for all video projects
**Video Production**
- Coordinate pre-production
- Review Video Briefs and timeline
- Create Story Boards (as required) Scripting (as required)
- Creating shoot schedules with Marketing Strategists
- Editing & Video graphics
- Edit video and audio footage for specific videos based on video brief
- Collaborate with the Graphic Designer Specialists to develop cutting edge graphics for the videos
- Create the final product for determined media/medium
- Filming
- Operate video camera and all equipment
- Film for specific video briefs that will be edited into videos
- Film interviews that will be used in videos or in research
**Creative Writing Collaboration**
- Consistently research, write, edit and deliver polished work across different mediums; includes traditional and online media (e.g. Website, internal portal, blog, social media)
- Develop concepts, write copy, assist in development of key messaging, and produce other creative test to engage, attract and persuade audiences
**Brand Stewardship**
- Ensure that RDP brand is effectively and consistently integrated within all marketing and communications initiatives, directed internally and externally
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the polytechnic brand and infuse it as a foundation in all video projects
**Required Qualifications**
- Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of University in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent. Communications, Photography, Videography and/or Marketing, Broadcast/Media, Visual Arts or Design; major coursework in digital media communications, cinematography, video production**Preferred Qualifications**
**Over two up to 3 years of experience.**
- Ability to translate business needs, creating and implementing effective marketing and communications strategy into effective tactical creative solutions that meet business needs
- Strong project management skills gained from experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Flexibility; ability to multi-task, adapt to changing priorities and prioritize projects to meet aggressive deadlines
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated graphic design sensibility
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate requesting department needs
- Strong working knowledge in: Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat
- Strong working knowledge of various video equipment, including but not limited to: professional camcorders, professional lighting, wireless microphone, teleprompter, green screen, filtering, composition, movement, camera shooting styles, and ability to photograph in less than ideal situations
