Position Overview:
The Events Coordinator will lead all provincial educational events for BCSS, organizing event logistics and collaborating with the BCSS Communications Team to market events. This role will also coordinate the Donor Appreciation Event. Event goals include supporting the mission of BCSS, increasing awareness of psychosis, schizophrenia, and other severe and persistent mental illnesses, as well as increasing the reach of BCSS throughout the province. The position will report to the Marketing and Communications Manager and works alongside the Director of Development.

This is a hybrid position with the expectation of work during normal business hours with set days of the week, one-day a week at the Vancouver provincial office, and attendance at other societal or staff meetings as required and approximately 5-10 provincial and relevant events annually.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepares and manages the annual event calendar and presents event concepts, themes and ideas to the provincial office team
- Coordinates pre-event, day-of, and post-event logistics and timelines for events including but not limited to the AGM, National Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day, Donor Appreciation Event, Member Education Events and Wills & Estate Seminars.
- Coordinates staff training and planning sessions as they arise
- Oversees technical requirements for hybrid events
- Explores event topics and potential speakers
- Presents new opportunities and ideas to build community awareness through existing and future events
- Coordinates invitations for keynote speakers, government officials or other presenters to speak at BCSS events
- Responds to inquiries from the public about events and works with the communications team on media requests
- Assists the Communications Team and Director of Development to ensure the delivery of sponsor benefits and the development of sponsorship fulfillment packages
- Works with the Director or Development and Director of Finance to prepare, minor and meet event budgets
- Prepares speaking notes and run of show documents
- Prepares formal post-event reports
- Any other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Minimum post-secondary diploma required, preference for post-secondary degree in a related field (preferably Marketing, Public or Community Relations, Event Planning),
- Two years of experience in special events planning, preferably in the not-for-profit sector
- Experience in planning and implementing events; proven track record in developing and implementing promotional plans
- In-depth technical knowledge of virtual/hybrid events using Zoom (or similar) and event management platforms
- Knowledge and experience with the use of project management, website management, and social media tools in a professional capacity are preferred

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

- $28-33 per hour depending on experience
- 4 weeks paid vacation to start
- Generous paid sick time
- A comprehensive benefits package, which includes the Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) for employees working 20 or more hours per week
