**Position overview**:
**Major responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with Ministry of Labor, WSIB and other related entities
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root cause and recommend corrective actions, execute training and delivery to prevent further incidents
- Provide training to employees on health and safety topics. Co-Chair and participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings both in Tapscott and Yonge & Eglinton Committees. Maintain and keep current all safety training and policies
- Liaise with building management to closely collaborate on all Occupational, Health and Safety topics for all employees
- Training new hires and all employees on health and safety policies and procedures; including providing Plan Tours and orientation to new or existing employees as part of a comprehensive Health & Safety Training Program
- Be the lead point for Health crisis and actions needed in case of medical and health emergencies locally and globally
- Follow through actions for compliance; complying with mandatory regulations in Ontario
- Other duties as instructed

**Skills and qualifications**:

- Post Secondary education (2 years of college or university) in occupational health and safety or a related field
- 1-3 years experience in H&S in a manufacturing and office environment in Ontario
- Certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC); or Certified Safety Auditor, and knowledge of federal, provincial and territorial legislation is an asset
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety management systems; knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment and control measures
- Knowledge of emergency response planning
- Strong Communication skills, including policy writing and facilitation skills for group sessions
- Strong orientation to detail
- Critical and analytical thinking to conduct investigations and address root cause problems
- Agile learner, passion for communication and change management techniques
