**Job Summary**:
The Accounting Supervisor will oversee daily accounting operations to ensure in-time accuracy and integrity of sales, inventory and expense records. The supervisor will provide leadership to the accounting team while actively participating in day-to-day accounting tasks. This role involves producing financial reports, and developing and enforcing systems and processes to optimize operations.
**Responsibilities/Duties**:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all associated financial statements, documents and records.
- Record financial transactions and complete data entry within accounting software.
- Assist and cover for the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable clerks when needed.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Supervise and mentor accounting team, including training, performance reviews, coaching, feedback.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliation and adjustments.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages for ownership and executives.
- Manage the accounting month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist with special projects, budgeting and financial analysis as required.
- Assist with maintaining payroll records.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with local, provincial and federal accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Handle disciplinary matters involving the accounting team, with the assistance of HR.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, setting an example and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Maintain a safe, positive work environment and culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist the office, the accounting department and the CFO.
**Qualifications/Education/Experience**:
- Degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field required.
- If no Degree, 10+ years of accounting or finance experience required.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting or finance experience required.
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory or management experience required.
**Skills**:
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Ability to create accurate financial reports and statements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Effectively manage incoming and outgoing invoices, ensuring timely payment and collections.
- Ability to review, analyze and interpret financial reports and statements.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Maintains orderly records and documentation.
- Excellent effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
**Working Environment**:
Office Setting: The Accounting Supervisor will work in a climate
- controlled office, furnished with a personal workstation equipped with a phone and computer. The role involved active engagement with colleagues, clients and stakeholders through phone calls, meetings, and collaborative efforts.
