The Dispatcher performs a variety of tasks that require planning, organization, superior customer service and communication skills to meet deadlines and quality standards to ensure the effective dispatch of drivers to meet customer needs. The position requires good communication, customer service, data entry, computer and multi-tasking skills necessary to perform the role effectively. The successful incumbent will work with all areas of the operations to ensure that the shipping requirements are being meet and ensure that a constant line of communication remains open with driver and customer to ensure that performance expectations are met.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities **include, but are not limited to the following:

- Plans and sets up daily delivery activities and waves, specifically around appointments, volumes and load requirements and routing.
- Utilizes companies’ software to schedule trips and ensure all information is relayed accurately to driver. Monitors delivery activity to ensure productivity.
- Keeps up to date on shipment and delivery times to ensure appointment times can be maintained. Rebooks appointments as required.
- Oversee driver check-in process (complete paperwork; OSD entry/update; questioning discrepancies).
- Work with the Maintenance department to ensure resources are effectively utilized and removed from service accordingly.
- Supervises and assist with the loading and manifesting of trucks
- Participates in driver performance reviews and oversight of driver behaviour.
- Ensures that drivers are complying with the provincial MTO guidelines & regulations.
- Develops and maintains excellent customer relationships both internally & externally.
- Informs drivers of expectations and requirements of customers.
- Ensures driver hours are updated as required
- Ensures any necessary discipline is consistent, fair and reasonable in a team approach
- Gain a working knowledge of all applicable telematic and dispatch software
- Ad hoc duties as assigned by management.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum 3 years dispatching experience preferably in the retail and/ or construction industry
- Experience with Telematics & Dispatch Management System, as well as driving experience, would be an asset
- Superior time management and multi-tasking ability
- Must have knowledge of the Greater Toronto Area cities and streets
- E-Compliance knowledge is a must
- GPS & Driver Behaviour system knowledge a must
- Superior organization skills
- Effective and creative problem solver
- Possess a “Can Do” attitude
- Good keyboard skills and computer literate using Excel, Word, Outlook and previous dispatch software experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter
- Pleasant phone manner

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Sit & stand for prolonged periods of time
- Overtime as required
- Lifting or moving up to 50lbs may be required
