Are you passionate about fostering inclusive social and recreational opportunities? Autism Nova Scotia is seeking a full-time Recreation Coordinator to support the development and delivery of recreational programming for Autistic individuals of all ages and abilities. From Dungeons & Dragons groups to summer camp, you'll help create welcoming spaces where participants can connect, grow, and thrive.

**About the Role**
As Recreation Coordinator, you’ll support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of diverse recreation programs tailored to participant goals and interests. You'll oversee program logistics, lead communication with families and partners, and coordinate volunteer and student placements—all while ensuring high-quality, person-centered experiences.
Evening and weekend availability is required to meet programming needs.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Conduct intakes and onboarding for new participants
- Plan, develop, and facilitate engaging, goal-oriented session plans
- Track participant progress and program data
- Monitor and adhere to program budgets
- Coordinate registration and maintain accurate participant documentation
- Manage communication with participants, caregivers, volunteers, and community partners
- Design visual supports and materials for activities
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers and student placements
- Collaborate with the Recreation Manager on volunteer engagement and recognition strategies
- Lead bi-weekly Supported Social Group sessions for teens and adults
- Provide front-line and behind-the-scenes support for Ben James Summer Camp (June-August)
- Identify service gaps and contribute to program development initiatives
- Ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures
**Qualifications**
**Education & Experience**:
- 1-3 years of experience supporting individuals with autism
- Post-secondary education (or active enrollment) in recreation, behavioural intervention, or a related field considered an asset
- Experience in leadership or supervisory roles
- Experience working with youth and adults in recreational or community settings
**Required Skills**:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Knowledge of evidence-based strategies for supporting Autistic individuals
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated experience managing group activities of 10+ participants
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and comfort with digital tools (e.g., ShareVision, Zoom)
- Data collection and program evaluation experience considered an asset
**Employment Requirements**
- Valid Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Check)
- Valid Child Abuse Registry Check
- First Aid Certification and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (or willingness to obtain)
- Access to reliable transportation
