**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
The **Summer Coordinator**plans and organizes recreational programs and schedules facilities for a variety of age groups. The coordinator designs curriculum and supports persons with disabilities in programs (i.e. personal care, lifting procedures, adapting activities, etc.). Other responsibilities include: daily duties such as planning, implementing, promoting, supervising, and evaluating recreation programs and services; scheduling, supervising, motivating, and evaluating Summer Program Instructors; managing risks, ensuring participant safety; inventories, distributes and collects equipment and supplies; handling administrative duties, networking with community groups and organizations; organizing special events and outings, submitting regular reports, tracking statistics; maintaining a budget and organizing staff meeting.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education and Experience**
- At least one season/summer of experience leading preschoolers/children/youth in a recreational setting and designing program curriculum
- Knowledge and understanding of Healthy Child Development
- At least one season/summer of demonstrated program leadership skills
- Supervisory experience an asset
- Experience teaching sport an asset
- Previous experience working with persons with disabilities an asset
**Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities**
- Current certification in Emergency First Aid (CSA Basic) and Level C CPR
- Successful completion of all training requirements (including High Five and WHMIS) prior to start date
- Access to a reliable vehicle may be required for some positions
- Screening through the Child Abuse Registry and a Police Record Check
**Security Clearance Requirements**: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

**WORK STATUS**: Casual/Seasonal - May 20th, 2025, to August 29th, 2025
**HOURS OF WORK**: Monday to Friday 8:30am
- 4:30pm. Must be flexible/some evening and weekend work required
**SALARY**: Non-Union, $20.20 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)
**WORK LOCATION**: Various Community Recreation Centres in the Halifax Regional Municipality, listed below.

Snow Community Centre, Lakeside Community Centre, LeBrun Recreation Centre, Musquodoboit Harbour Community Centre, Musquodoboit Valley, Needham Community Centre, North Preston Community Centre, Sackville/Lucasville, Sackville Sports Stadium, Sheet Harbour, St. Andrew’s Community Centre, Horizon Recreation Centre.
