**Primary Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Strategy & Engagement is responsible for strategic leadership, direction and guidance of NHA’s strategy and engagement activities, including growth strategy development and execution, fund development, stakeholder relationship management and engagement, internal and external communications. This is a highly collaborative role that works closely with the CEO to advocate for Norfolk and promote its unique housing model in the community.
Specifically, the Director of Strategy & Engagement is responsible for the following:
**1. Strategy & People Leadership**I**n partnership with the board and CEO, coordinate the organization’s strategy and business plan including the effective coordination and consolidation of the various department plans.- Contribute to the strategic direction of Norfolk as a key member of the executive team.- Anticipate, plan for, and oversee long-term strategy including growth & financing, stakeholder relationship management, and communication needs for the organization.- As a member of the executive team, lead in the implementation of the desired culture within the workforce to create a culture of safety, respect, and high degree of engagement amongst staff.- With the CEO, provide leadership, through coaching, mentoring, management and direction setting.- Support the CEO in leading all aspects of people leadership and development including but not limited to; recruitment, delegation and monitoring of work, performance management, coaching, mentoring and creation of training and development plans for the Norfolk team.

**2. Relationship Management**- Establish and maintain relationships within the sector and the community and act as an advocate for the organization, its programs and strategic objectives.- Promote Norfolk and its services, including attendance at community meetings and presentations at conferences. Represent the organization on various management or other special purpose committees, industry task forces, events, or advisory groups and work to enhance Norfolk’s reputation and profile in the affordable housing sector.- Collaborate with the operations team and the CEO to identify key relationships and stakeholders that advance the organization’s strategic objectives.

**3. Financial & Operational Management**- Work with the CEO, board committees, and operations team as needed to develop annual budgets and manage financial performance.- As needed, support the operations team in audit and compliance management.- Work with the CEO to identify funding and financing opportunities that support the strategic initiatives and objectives.- Coordinate Norfolk’s strategic planning process with the board, CEO and leadership team and lead the communication of the plan to the appropriate internal and external stakeholders.- Prepare regular progress reports on the strategic plan and fund development strategies for executive team, board, and the broader organization.- Work with the CEO to develop, implement and execute an integrated growth and fund development strategy and ensure compliance with the appropriate rules, regulatory or other industry standards.

**4. Stakeholder Communication & Engagement**- Oversee the development and execution of a strategic communication plan with programs and activities that support Norfolk’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives.- Provide leadership to determine and implement relationship management processes an
