**Job description**

We are seeking a part-time Barista to join our small, tight-knit team. You love coffee and people, and bring with you experience preparing specialty coffee and espresso-based drinks. This job is primarily based at our East End location on Gerrard Street East. You will at times be asked to cover shifts at our West End location.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Customer Service**:

- Provide a friendly, welcoming experience to all customers and teammates
- Work to foster positive rapport/relationships with regular customers
- Receive in-person and online orders via Square POS, Ritual and other future platforms
- **Specialty Coffee Preparation**:

- Prepare espresso drinks, brew coffee, tea and other beverages with a focus on quality and consistency
- Dial-in espresso when starting and throughout your shift, weighing shots regularly
- Hone your latte art experience when preparing milk-based beverages
- Keep barista station at high level of cleanliness
- **Food Preparation & Servicee**:

- Stock and serve our delicious variety of locally-made baked and prepared goods, snacks and sandwiches
- Bake scones, muffins and cookies in our commercial oven
- Assist with cooking and preparation of our house-favourite lunch sandwiches

**Job Qualifications**:

- Previous experience and demonstrated knowledge in specialty coffee - 1+ years experience as a Barista in a specialty coffee shop
- Previous experience and enthusiasm for customer service
- Positive, team-oriented attitude
- Self-starter mindset, you have the initiative to identify and solve problems, address customer concerns, share new ideas, and help us to make the cafe the best place it can be

**Physical Demands and Working Conditions**:

- Ability to work standing up for 8 hour shifts
- Ability on occasion to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted and carry as required
- Ability to lift and turn throughout the shift
- Ability to twist, turn, reach and work above shoulder level.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.50 per hour
