**Would you like to be a part of the Immigration and Settlement Volunteer team of Catholic Social Services?**

**If you said yes to these questions, then we have the perfect volunteer opportunity for YOU**

The Canadian cooking class is a weekly informal gathering in which newcomers to Canada have the opportunity to learn basic cooking skills.

This program allows volunteers to enjoy meeting new people, learn about different cultures, and help newcomers to discover healthy low cost nutritional habit as they start a new life in Canada.

**Desired skills and qualifications include**:

- General knowledge of nutrition, food and kitchen safety, menu planning, food preparation, and cooking
- Interest in learning about other cultures, specifically, food/cooking from other cultures
- Personable and able to engage people in conversation and activity
- Ability to work independently and also in a team environment
- Fluency in English
- Patience, compassion, and respect for other cultures
- Minimum requirement 2-4 hours a week
- Flexibility to volunteer on weekends preferred.
