Sensity is offering an extraordinary opportunity in our Paris, ON location for an experienced **Chief Financial Officer (CFO)** who has a background in the not-for-profit sector, to join our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to support the execution of the Organization's strategic goals and objectives, and who has a focus on innovation and exceptional service.
Reporting to our Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CFO will provide leadership for all financial strategy, accounting, reporting, and analysis. They will also oversee the Human Resources and IT departments. As a member of the SLT, the CFO will work closely with the CEO, other SLT members, the Board of Directors, and outside agencies to ensure sound management decision making and compliance with all legislative and fiduciary requirements.
**Essential Position Functions**:
**Leadership**:
- Establish credibility throughout the organization as a strategic, solution-based leader to spearhead challenges/ opportunities that arise.
- Work as a key strategic partner to the CEO, SLT, and Board of Directors in the development and continuous evaluation of both short-term and long-term organizational objectives to ensure all commitments to internal and external stakeholders are fulfilled.
- Provide guidance to the SLT and Board of Directors on all financial and accounting matters.
- Manage all finance & accounting related relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, government, banks, community agencies, etc.
- Liaise with the Break Open Ticket (BOT) management companies to communicate regarding quarterly site-specific ticket activity.
- Lead, coach, and manage the finance, IT, and Human Resources teams; attract, develop, and retain key talent as needed.
**Financial Reporting, Control, Budget and Accounting**
- Design and implement financial policies and procedures that are compliant with relevant legislation and the requirements of relevant Ontario provincial ministries.
- Compile quarterly & annual reports in accordance with applicable legislation for submission to the Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS), Ministry of Health (MOH), and Alcohol Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
- Oversight of all budgets, FP&A, and cash flow management processes, procedures, and activities. Ensure the availability of robust financial management information, i.e. financial and labour usage data, variance analysis, cashflow analysis, to identify trends and provide forecasts.
- Monitor the investments of the organization according to organizational financial and governance
- Coordinates the annual audit, acting as the lead contact for external auditors, and coordinating internal resources as needed to respond to auditors'
**First Year Success**
- Establish a strong working relationship with the CEO and other members of the SLT, as well as with board members, community stakeholders, and MCCSS, MOH, and AGO.
- Build strong finance and accounting, IT and human resource teams, ensuring members have the skills and mindset necessary to implement and maintain new processes, procedures, and policies.
- Develop and implement processes and controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial information, with a particular focus on government reporting and compliance.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the organizations' services and customers' needs.
**Experience & Qualifications**:
- More than eight years of progressive senior financial and leadership experience, ideally in the social service or not-for-profit sector. Familiarity with MCSS, MOH, and AGCO legislative reporting requirements is a strong asset.
- An individual who is operationally focused, can think and act strategically, and plan thoughtfully.
- Experience building strong relationships with employees, senior management, board members, and outside agencies.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience in explaining complex financial issues to non-finance stakeholders and in building consensus.
- In Depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), principles of fund-based accounting and strong analytical
- Knowledge of French (written and verbal) an asset but not required.
**Education**:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance Management or equivalent
- CPA designation is essential.
