**The Opportunity**
You will monitor and coach exceptional experiences for our Member and Field House Participant recreation, community, and fitness programs for all ages. The Coordinator will provide leadership in the set-up and day-to-day operational activities including the supervision and coaching of a staff and volunteer team. The Coordinator will provide leadership and stability in the development and direct delivery of programs and services. Within this role, the coordinator will also support Irving Oil Field House Rentals, including retention and growth initiatives, administrative tasks, planning and delivery of community, leagues, events, and specialty programs such as Specialty Day Camps and Professional Development Days.
You will also be part of the HMR Leadership team ensuring the Irving Oil Field House has supervisory coverage at all times it is open. This will require you to work a skewed work week; flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; to be available according to the Irving Oil Field House hours of operation.
**Responsibilities**
- Effectively plan, develop, organize and lead scheduled programs, leagues, activities, and services for all ages for members and the community at the Irving Oil Field House.
- Employ inclusive and adaptive programming principles to cater to all individuals participating in programs and services and resource additional support as deemed necessary.
- Set up and supervise Member, Community, User and Specialized Recreation Programs for all ages at the Irving Oil Field House.
- Encourage and foster volunteerism, communicating volunteer opportunities for all ages within programs and the community.
- Scheduling and administrative duties including sign-in/ sign-out.
- Lead with training all new and current staff to ensure knowledgeable and well-trained delivery of programs.
- Maintain a safe and organized area both during and outside of core programming hours.
- Maintain program and facility equipment, during activity set-up and tear down; in a clean and orderly manner.
- Supporting and collaborating with Fitness programs.
- Work collaboratively with other Y Departments, in particular HMR, to understand current programs and how to complement what is already being offered.
- Network and explore opportunities for engaging the community and members to participate in programming and services at the Irving Oil Field House.
- Work with Manager, Irving Oil Field House in development and management, measuring outcomes and key metrics for each component such as to monitor, support and adhere to budgets set.
- Communicate and enforce facility guidelines to ensure a safe and controlled environment while paying keen attention to accident/incident prevention.
- Understanding of Child Protection Policies and Practices.
- Act as a coach, teammate and mentor.
- Assume additional duties including workshops, training, conferences and staff meetings as required.
- Act as a positive role model, effectively guiding youth behaviour and actions.
**Skills and Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree, Community College diploma-related field.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in a recreational programming setting
- Professional with a strong work ethic and organizational skills.
- Flexible working hours include early mornings, days, evenings and weekends.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills including written and verbal, and a team player.
- Experience in recruitment, hiring, performance management and training of staff, is considered an asset.
- Computer literate and able to function within Microsoft Office and Windows environment.
- Experience in developing and managing a budget is considered an asset.
- Current First Aid and CPR (or willing to obtain)
