Christian House Parents Required

Little House is an Evangelical Christian organization working with the Children’s Aid Societies to provide a loving and structured safe place for high-risk children in need. We are looking for a loving couple that would be willing to work in one of our homes taking care of up to six children. Budget is provided for daily expenses and a salary is paid to each of you, as well as benefits after 6 months.

Qualifications and skills required**:Doctor’s note stating a physical ability to work and without communicable diseases.**

**A degree or diploma in Child and Youth work, Social Work or something related or equivalent experience working with children.**
- Provide a police criminal records vulnerability check. **Leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.**:

- Display professionalism along with a level of compassion and understanding regarding the children and staff they will be working with. Do NOT take things personally.
- Demonstrate team player skills with the staff, social workers and other professionals that are included in the Little House circle.
- Must have some knowledge in computer skills regarding writing reports, concerns, daily logs, etc. **Current First Aid, CPR, and/or Crisis Intervention certificate. Little House will cover costs for training.**:

- Current full G (or better) driver’s license and insurance.
- Both must have a strong commitment to each other, and both want to do this work.

Some responsibilities include:

- LIVE-IN our home when on duty.
- Provide appropriate care to the children example: cooking healthy meals, administer medication, laundry, etc.
- Take kids to church on Sundays
- Participate in plans of care for the children which include goals and how to accomplish them. Must follow the Ministry of Child and Family Services regulations.
- Building healthy appropriate relationships with the children is one of the most important responsibilities which include demonstrating the love of Jesus.
- General maintenance and upkeep of the property; handyman skills an asset. **Keep the home clean and tidy.**:

- Drive children to appointments and activities. **Record daily logs, concerns, reports, Plans of Care, etc. as needed. Good computer skills, online programs and Microsoft Office.**
