**Job Description: Substitute Education Assistant**

We are seeking flexible and reliable Substitute Education Assistants to join our team on an **on-call basis**. This role involves providing support to teachers and students in kindergarten and pre-kindergarten settings, with **shifts offered on short notice** as needs arise.

Please note the following details about this position:

- **This is a substitute role with no guaranteed hours of work.**:

- Applicants must have **weekday, daytime availability** on an ongoing basis, but full-day availability every day is not required.
- You can choose shifts based on the hours you are able to work.

The Centre for Autism Services Alberta (CFASA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children, teens and young adults with autism. Established in 1997, the Centre has grown to offer a wide range of services to individuals on the spectrum and their families, and is the largest accredited autism service provider in northern Alberta. **Responsibilities**:

- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Support students with autism and other developmental disabilities, including one-on-one support
- Assist teachers
- Observe student progress, and provide feedback to teachers
- Assist with classroom management
- Utilize various teaching methods to engage students in learning
- Assist children with personal care skills (such as toileting and dressing)
- Ensuring safety of children in the classroom
- Collaboration with a team of including the classroom teacher, and clinicians (SLP & OT)
- Implementing goals specific to each child's learning plan
- Setup and cleanup during and after class
- other duties may be assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Experience working or volunteering with children
- Interest in working with children with autism and development disabilities
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Post-secondary education in progress in a relevant area is preferred e.g. education, psychology, disability studies, social work, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy
- Clean Police Vulnerable Sector & Child Intervention Check (dated within 6 months) is required as a condition of employment
- First Aid with CPR
- Ability to easily engage in gross motor and fine motor movements throughout a shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is an asset
- Understanding of adaptive education needs and accommodations is an asset
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices is an asset

**Job Type**: Casual, on-call between Monday to Thursday.
