The Fleet Manager is a strategic position interacting with many different branches within Air Canada. The purpose is to be the single voice of the fleet and ensure its performance is at the expected level and coordinate with all stakeholders to achieve the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the fleet.
**Accountabilities (Responsibilities)**:
The Fleet Manager reports to the Director Fleet Management and is responsible for:
- Mandatory Airworthiness requirements
- Ensure the teams' timely review and disposition of all aircraft mandatory Airworthiness Requirements (ADs, NPRMs)
- Attend and provide direction at MAREP meetings
- Aircraft Specifications-
- Oversee configuration control, ensure set up and update of aircraft configuration in the Maintenance Information System (product structures, equivalencies, PMAs, invalid configuration)
- Support the development of off-wing maintenance specifications (engine/APU, landing gears, structural components and components)
- Engage Aircraft Programs in the decision-making process related to major programs such as new fleets or uplift aircraft introduction as well as lease returns
- Fleet reliability & costs monitoring, analysis and reporting
- Monitor the fleet performance in terms of reliability, safety & costs
- Develop and manage the fleet reliability budget and lead cost saving initiatives (CTPs)
- Review and approve fleet reliability projects and initiatives
- Ensure timely review and disposition of Service Bulletins
- Prepare and present the quarterly Maintenance Review Board (MRB) to Senior management.
- Review effectiveness of ACM maintenance program and proposed corrective actions
- Liaise with all stakeholders within ACA & lead fleet performance improvement initiatives to achieve fleet KPIs (spares inventory review, maintenance program optimization, technical dispatch reliability, maintenance burden, configuration, etc.)
- Identify maintenance costs saving opportunities (workscope optimization, repairs, task/check interval, material savings, warranty recovery etc.)
- Technical Support
- Provide technical expertise to ACM internal customers such as, Line Maintenance, Maintenance Operations Control, Planning, Supply Chain and Airworthiness in support of operational requirements and technical investigations
- Provide technical expertise to Vendor Management in the support of Airframe Maintenance events.
- Represent ACM as required for issues related to your fleet with other AC branches (Cargo, SOC, Marketing, In-Flight, Flight Ops, Legal, Finance)
- Technical Liaison
- Ensure liaison with OEMs, Transport Canada and other external suppliers
- Represent Air Canada in the industry in order to keep up to date with regulatory changes, latest technologies and skills as it relates to your fleet.
- Leadership
- Lead by being an effective communicator, setting clear and challenging expectations as well as encouraging and rewarding the team
- Promote delegation development with team members
- Support the reporting requirements to key internal and external stakeholders
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a relevant Engineering discipline recognized by a Canadian university or provincial engineering association
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in aviation or aerospace industry
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direction to a team of indirect reports in a fast-changing environment
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and experience dealing with people in customer and supplier relationships.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Strong knowledge of applicable safety, environmental and other regulatory requirements, policies and standards.
- Strong technical background of aircraft systems and operations
