**Overall responsibilities**
The IT Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing hardware and software components of SYSTRA IBT computers, and support the users (employees) with their IT needs.
**Role and responsibilities**
- **Hardware and Software Troubleshooting**: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues for computer systems, peripherals, and networks. Troubleshoot problems related to malfunctioning devices, connectivity, and software glitches.
- **Network Support**: Assist with network setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Ensure proper connectivity, address network-related issues, and manage network security protocols.
- Coordinate the resolution of more complex or higher issues with the IT Manager.
- Ensure the transfer of information necessary for the handling of problems at all levels.
- **Security Measures**: Implement security measures to protect systems and data. This includes configuring firewalls, monitoring network traffic, and ensuring compliance with security policies.
- **Backup and Recovery**: Set up data backup systems and perform regular backups to prevent data loss. In case of system failures, restore data from backups.
- **Hardware Upgrades**: When necessary, upgrade hardware components (e.g., RAM, hard drives) to improve system performance.
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, software licenses, and network configurations, in order to track changes and facilitate troubleshooting.
- **Adherence to Policies**: Follow company policies, industry standards, and best practices to ensure efficient IT operations.
- **And**: Any other related tasks or projects requested by the IT Manager.
**Qualifications**
**Education**: College diploma in computer science or a related field.
**Years of experience**: Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar, technical support position.
**Technical competencies**:
- Good knowledge of Windows 10 and 11 operating systems.
- Good knowledge of the Office 365 Suite, Teams and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of programming (DOS scripts on Windows, Visual Basic Macros Vlookup on Excel, C++ on Arduino, Python on RPi, VB.Net on Visual Studio) is an asset.
- Deep understanding of computer systems, networks, and hardware.
- Familiarity with network protocols, configurations, and security measures.
- Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, and network troubleshooting.
- Ability to manage operating systems, user accounts, and permissions.
- Experience in maintaining servers and ensuring system stability.
- Proficiency in examining, repairing, and installing computer equipment.
- Comfort with both internal and external components of computers.

- Ability to diagnose and solve computer problems.
- Excellent customer service and priority management skills.
- Independent and able to work as part of a team or in collaboration with multiple teams.
- Good stress management skills, organized and professional.
- Excellent analytical skills, logical thinking, and good problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and active listening skills to support users.
- Fluency in French and English, in order to be able to work closely with and support collaborators across Canada and in the USA.
