**Job Profile**:
Working within the Infrastructure Services Division, there are multiple openings within the Grounds Maintenance, Horticulture and Forestry operations. These positions are available from April 23, 2025 to August 29, 2025.
**What you will be doing**:
**Grounds Maintenance Outside Worker**
Cuts and trims grass, performs tree maintenance, rakes leaves, digs and compacts soil, maintains flowerbed and paints.
Additional related duties may be assigned, depending on the area of work including, but not limited to playground maintenance, playing field maintenance, concrete work, etc..
Grounds Maintenance Outside Worker positions are available within our parks, and cemeteries.
**Horticulture Operations Outside Worker**
Perform horticulture duties such as maintenance of citywide garden features that include the preparation and planting of annuals, maintenance of trees, perennials and shrubs, as well as the watering, pruning, fertilizing, cultivating, weeding and mulching of beds and gardens to enhance horticultural areas within parks, road allowance & traffic medians throughout the city.
Assist with greenhouse operations and the growing and maintenance of various plants.
Grass cutting/trimming, vegetation control, maintenance and landscaping citywide within the right-of-way, at trailheads, and horticulture features.
**Forestry Operations Outside Worker**
Inspects and prunes trees; tree inventory; records data and updates work order system; inspects job sites; and provides customer service.
Note: Location of work to be determined.
**Education**:
- Actively pursuing a college diploma or university degree**Experience and Knowledge**:
Previous equipment operation experience (lawn mower, weed trimmer, pick-up truck) is an asset.
**We will ask you for these items if you are hired**:
- Current and valid Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check to be provided prior to commencement in this position.- Proof of current or future enrolment in post-secondary education.- Valid G2 or G class driver's license.- Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training Certificate from the Ministry of Labour**Rate of pay**:
$17.70 per hour for a student’s first summer work term as a Student Outside Worker with the City of Cambridge.
**Hours of work**:
Eight hours per day, five days per week for a 40-hour work week, weekends or evenings may be required.
Hours are as scheduled by the supervisor and based on departmental requirements.
