**Job Summary**
- The Registrar’s Office (RO) is a large, multi-unit, multi-site operation involved in the entire academic experience of Dalhousie students, from recruitment and admissions through to convocation and beyond. Reporting to the Associate Registrar and Director of Academic Regulations and Services, the Associate Director, Academic Regulations is responsible for leadership, strategic planning and oversight for the effective management of regulations and operations within four areas of the Registrar’s Office - student transfers and mobility; academic scheduling; registration and academic record management; and degree completion and graduation. This position plays a critical role in meeting the enrolment, retention and outcome objectives of the university.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide expertise and recommendations to Faculties, Departments/Schools and working groups on new and/or revised regulations to determine alignment with university objectives, feasibility and operational-readiness.
- Oversee the lifecycle of operational activities across all four areas ensuring co-ordination and communication among Assistant Registrars.
- Assess, evaluate, and update quantitative and qualitative performance metrics, benchmarks, and indices for all activities. Provide ongoing evaluation and improvement of activities and programs to ensure efficacy and optimal resource management.
- Ensure consistent messaging and approach to initiatives across the university by maintaining continual contact and positive relationships with relevant departments and divisions across the institution.
- Hire, supervise and train 4 full-time, direct reports. Provide guidance and support to them on the management of their respective teams.
**Note**
- The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in relevant field plus at least five years’ related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Demonstrated knowledge of higher education registration and records management processes and best practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills as well as strong organizational, decision-making, problem solving and project management skills.
- A detailed knowledge of university programs, policies, systems, and procedures.
- Knowledge of large-scale student information systems and electronic data exchange tools.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning and an ability to analyze and streamline complex processes.
- Ability to analyze data and develop and present clear reports.
- Excellent staff management skills, conflict management skills and ability to effectively deal with confidential and sensitive information.
