**Major Duties and Responsibilities**:
**_Accounting: _**
- Keeping financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems (QuickBooks)
- Resolving invoice discrepancies by corresponding with vendor and responding to their inquiries
- Corresponding with all levels of government regarding any tax or other reporting inquiries
- Producing monthly and weekly financial reports as required
- Preparing HST on a timely basis
- Preparing timely preparation of Government remit
- Ensuring company is compliant with all required reporting
- Maintaining petty cash fund an orderly accounting filing system
- Entry and maintenance of Accounts Receivable and Payable
- Processing weekly payments to Suppliers using EFT process/cheques
- Posting invoices in QuickBooks as required
- Balancing bank statements
- Balancing Credit Cards statements
- Performing other duties as assigned
**_Payroll: _**
- Processing a biweekly payroll via Quickbooks and Time and Attendance System (Humanity)
- Preparing T4 statements, Record of Employment (ROE) and other statements as required
- Preparing and balancing period-end reports and reconciling issues payrolls to bank statements
- Ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations and guidelines for filing (i.e. completing and submitting tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents)
- Creating and preparing cheques for payrolls, taxes, and other bills
- Preparing other statistical, financial, and accounting reports as required
- Providing clerical and administrative support to management as requested
- Performing other duties as assigned
**Education/Experience Requirements**:
- Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related program
- Over 3 years' experience in similar position (i.e. Bookkeeper responsible for payroll)
- Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
- Experience with processing payroll, ideally with Quickbooks
**Other Skills/Abilities**:
- Ability to comprehend complex data and reports
- SME in Bookkeeping and Payroll
- Self-directed and excellent time management skills to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent data entry skills
- Ability to work with confidential data
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency with MS Office
