Kichton Contracting Ltd (KCL) has been in business since 1963 and is based out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. KCL is classified as a medium sized civil earthworks contractor. Our work ranges from residential earthworks, commercial site development to industrial projects. Our services include grading design for all types of new commercial and industrial sites along with retrofitting existing sites to accommodate new site development.

**Description**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Diagnose and repair various types of heavy equipment (CAT, John Deere, Hitachi, Komatsu) in a safe and efficient manner to maximize equipment availability and performance.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and routine servicing on assigned equipment to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan.
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in equipment systems, and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
- Complete accurate and detailed service and repair reports, documenting work performed and parts utilized.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to company housekeeping standards and safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with other team members, supervisors, and operators to ensure smooth workflow and timely resolution of equipment-related concerns.
- Continuously update knowledge of industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance service quality and efficiency.
- Attend and participate in regular safety meetings and toolbox talks, promoting a culture of safety awareness and compliance within the team.
- Ensure adherence to all company and provincial health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately

**Required Qualifications**:

- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) certification or Red Seal certification
- Minimum of 5 years of previous experience working as a Mechanic in Construction
- Valid class 5 driver’s license (clean abstract) with own transportation
- Able to pass a drug & alcohol screening
- Valid CSTS-2020
- Valid WHMIS 2015 certification

- Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to participate positively in an engaging culture
- Must be able to organize and plan tasks, with an ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Must be dependable
- Effective attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
