The Opportunity
What your day will look like- Lead the satisfactory resolution of sensitive compliance-related incidents and associated risk issues.- Monitor adherence to CWB Financial Group's compliance standards and relevant procedures.- Supports timely and fulsome reporting of incidents to applicable regulators as required-
- Develop and continuously improve upon training materials meant to advise the organization’s employees about regulatory obligations and risk management controls.-
- Own and improve upon the organization’s consumer complaint intake resolution process.- Act as a consumer advocate in the investigation and resolution of complaints. Propose solutions for complaints and other consumer protection issues that work for the business and our customers, in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.- Act independently, research and arrive at conclusions and/or recommendations based on the exercise of good judgement.- Working with others, advocate for the client and CWB by holding others to account and delivering on their expected actions.- Participate in industry and professional associations.- Represent Regulatory Compliance on various business committees, projects and initiatives.- Monitor evolving legislation, court/regulatory decisions, and industry best practices to ensure that the organization adequately manages regulatory compliance risk.- Inspire trust by being open, honest and direct in communication, meeting commitments and behaving ethically in all dealings.- Support internal contacts by providing regulatory advice to all partners with open and direct communications.
What you bring to this role- Some post-secondary experience is required; undergraduate university degree in business or equivalent is preferred.- Industry certifications in risk management (CRM or equivalent) are strongly preferred.- Minimum of 5 years of regulatory risk management (including FCAC and CDIC requirements) and/or regulatory compliance preferably in the financial services sector.- Experience interpreting financial services laws and regulations.- Experience with regulators would be an asset.- High attention to detail with experience monitoring adherence to policies and procedures.- Keen investigation skills including the aptitude and personality to challenge and arrive at independent conclusions.- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.- Ability to work with highly confidential information.- Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to build and maintain effective relationships across various levels and areas of the organization.- Ability to draft policies, procedures and processes.
