As we continue with our growth strategy, we are currently seeking and have an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Fire Protection Senior Designer based in Edmonton, AB.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design automatic fire sprinkler systems in accordance with current building codes and NFPA standards.
  • Prepare general arrangement drawings using AutoCAD and HydraCAD/AutoSPRINK software.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations using HydraCAD or AutoSPRINK software to determine sprinkler head selection, piping sizes, and fire pump sizing.
  • Conduct fire protection system assessments using AFT Fathom or similar hydraulic analysis software.
  • Coordinate fire protection piping layouts with other disciplines, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural.
  • Prepare material orders and fabrication documents based on fire protection design drawings.
  • Review fire protection designs prepared by others to ensure compliance, safety, efficiency, and practicality.
  • Participate in project meetings with project managers and other trades to support project coordination and execution.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • University or college degree, or high school diploma with relevant experience.
  • 2–5+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or fire protection design.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, Building Codes, and FM Global guidelines.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Experience using HydraCAD, AutoSprink, or equivalent fire sprinkler design software.
  • Experience using AFT Fathom or equivalent hydraulic analysis tools.
  • Experience with 3D drafting and BIM is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Procore is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
