Environmental Health and Safety Assistant Manager

Toyotetsu Canada Inc. (TTCA) is a Tier 1 Automotive Parts Supplier to Toyota Manufacturing Facilities located in the heart of Norfolk County (Simcoe, ON). We utilize state of the art technology to ensure our automotive parts are assembled with a high degree of quality.
**Job Summary**:
The Assistant Manager will be responsible for the leadership of the EHS Department. The Assistant Manager will work closely to ensure smooth and efficient operations while promoting a team environment and improving all methods. This position is a salary position and works a straight day shift.
**Responsibilities include, but not limited to**:
- Ensuring compliance with legislative and company requirements.
- Working with: Ministry of Labour, Ministry of the Environment, and other regulatory bodies.
- Researching, drafting, and implementing policies to support company initiatives.
- Provide leadership in various areas, including safety awareness, problem-solving and cost.
- Provide guidance to Management Team regarding solutions to ergonomic and medical aid incidents and implementation of EHS programs.
- Develop, strengthen, and manage EHS systems within the organization.
- Manage WSIB and ESRTW programs.
- Facilitate training to all levels within the company on EHS-related programs, policies, and initiatives.
- Incident prevention through Risk Analysis, ergonomics review, information sharing and audit methods.
- Co-ordination of all emergency preparedness and response activities and training.
**Key skills and Characteristics**:
- Previous experience in some or all the listed areas of responsibility.
- Interpersonal skills (relationship building, teamwork, interpersonal insight, conflict resolution, customer orientation).
- Proven Leadership in driving a successful EHS team (setting pace, decisiveness, team development, ability to influence, organizational awareness).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities efficiently and effectively to meet targets and timelines.
- Curious and innovative mindset to continually adapt to ever-changing business needs.
- Judgement and critical thinking (strategic thinking, judgement and decision making, problem solving, awareness).
- Performance skills (accuracy with detail, planning, prioritizing, and organizing, efficiency).
- Excellent Communication skills with audiences of all levels (verbal communication, persuasive impact, listening, written communication).
**Education/Experience Desired**:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field OR 5+ years of applicable experience preferably in industrial safety/ environmental management.
- Minimum 3-5 years management experience (manufacturing/automotive as asset).
- Knowledge of applicable legislation.
- Intermediate to advance knowledge of MS Office.
Pay will be based on experience and qualifications.
