Boring Mill Journeyman Machinist

With over 50 years of experience and reliability, Standard Machine is a custom job shop with in-house capabilities for complete power transmissions projects; milling, turning, gear cutting, gear grinding, induction hardening, and carburization, fabrication, mechanical and engineering.

We are looking for a **Boring Mill Journeyman Machinist** with experience on large boring machines to join our team Standard Machine offers the opportunity to work in a clean, warm, safe, indoor environment featuring interesting and varied work in a shop environment.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings
- Setup, program, and operate manual and CNC lathe and boring mill equipment
- Run variety of machines including lathes, mills, slotters, and hobbing machines
- Understand tool limitations and controls during operation
- Operate machines within tight tolerances and knowledge of feeds and speeds
- Measure precisely utilizing calipers and maintaining specifications
- Operate travelling overhead crane up to 20 tonnes
- Inspect work according to ISO and Quality Assurance standards
- Supervise small projects, including shift-change communication
- Troubleshoot within area and on machines
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures
- Assist with continuous improvement projects under the direction of the team leader.
- Complete autonomous maintenance of equipment as per daily check lists.

**Qualifications**
- Education_
- Journeyman Machinist (or equivalent)
- Competencies_
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to operate a crane with proper rigging techniques
- Experience with medium to large boring mills
- Ability to run variety of CNC machines: lathes, mills, grinders, slotters, hobbers
- Commitment to providing outstanding service
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality
- Experience in a shop environment, preferably with custom ability
- Reliable track record at previous employment
