We are currently seeking a Hearing Instrument Specialist (HIS) to join our Durham Region Team. This role will be primarily based in Pickering with occasional travel to Ajax, Oshawa, Whitby, and Uxbridge

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Conduct hearing tests (air and bone conduction audiometry), speech audiometry, immittance testing, otoscopy and cerumen management
- Provide appropriate referral recommendations.
- Conduct hearing assessments
- Provide counseling
- Recommend, select, fit and verify, modify, and repair appropriate amplification
- Conduct home visits
- Provide ear impressions for all ages (infants to geriatrics)
- Provide a high standard of patient care
- Remain current with hearing aid technology
- Comply with AHIP and ADP guidelines
- Tend to hearing aid drop offs and walk-in patients
- To work within a team environment
- Attend scheduled meetings

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Must hold a Hearing Instrument Specialist Diploma
- Registered with the Association of Hearing Instrument Practitioners (AHIP)
- Completion of 1,000 hours of practical work as laid out in the AHIP membership is an asset
- The ability to have confident discussions with patients while engaging in active listening
- A passion for teamwork and a positive attitude
- A self-starter who enjoys staying busy and taking on challenges
- Exceptional organizational skills
