Resolution Health Support Worker (RHSW)

Full-Time Position

**Position Summary**:

- Resolution Health Support Workers provide counselling and emotional support to Residential School Survivors and Intergenerational Survivors.
- Cultural and counselling support is also provided to persons/organizations as requested.
- Travel is an integral part of this position. The successful applicant may need to travel on very short notice to urban and rural areas.
- This position works on a flex schedule, and weekend work is often necessary.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Hold a BSW, or a degree in Clinical Counselling with a minimum of three (3) years counselling experience with Indigenous clients. Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies is an asset.
- Possess an intimate familiarity with Indigenous culture, tradition, and ceremony.
- Have an extensive working knowledge of the history and impacts of residential school and effective methods for working with survivors.
- Ability to provide front-line professional, emotional, and psychological support to claimants: pre-, during, and post
- Indian Residential School /Day School resolution process.
- Ability to provide crisis support to individuals and communities.
- Ability to develop and facilitate workshops on various topics.
- Ability to organize, communicate, be team-oriented, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to liaise with various parties to identify those in need of support; and to facilitate, coordinate, and network with other support services and stakeholders.
- Provide accurate statistic and activity reports within expected timeframes.
- Computer literacy with ability to use Microsoft Office programs.

**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Current Criminal Record Check (less than 6 months)
- Valid First Aid certificate or willing to attend First Aid training.
- Due to the nature of the treatment environment at Tsow-Tun Le Lum; and according to Board Policy: preference is given to applicants who have been abstinent from drugs and alcohol for a minimum of 2 years and are willing to maintain an abstinent lifestyle while working at TTLL. (This includes marijuana and all cannabis products.)
- In meeting the objectives and philosophies of the Society, preference will be given to qualified individuals of Indigenous Ancestry in accordance with Section 42 of the BC Human Rights Code.
