Research Officer

**Roles and Responsibilities**:
- Conduct timely political research on various topics and analysis of issues relevant to the PCCO and the PC Caucus
- Prepare written communications—letters, briefs, reports, presentations—reflecting research results.
- Actively participate and at times take the lead on Committee Briefing meetings.
- Attend House Sittings, Committee Meetings and other internal or external meetings as assigned.
- Keep up to date with pertinent legislation, trends, and developments in government policy.
- Actively monitor policies and trends pertaining to the assigned portfolios and committees.
- Assist with responding to inquiries from Members and their constituency offices.
- Work in collaboration with other research staff to contribute to the development of internal and external communications.
- Formulate and participate in drafting Caucus documents (such as Members’ statements, briefing notes, committee talking points and others as required)
- Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- University/College degree/diploma.
- Solid experience in investigative research at an academic or professional level.
- Proven ability to work without supervision, producing accurate and effective work according to deadlines and maintaining organized records.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to write succinctly, powerfully, and quickly.
- Ability to work under tight timelines/deadlines and changes in priorities.
- Must have strong writing and editing skills.
- Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends.
