**Salary**: $2,232.12 to 2,838.04 bi-weekly ($58,258 - $74,072/year)

**Role Responsibilities**:
Forestry and Parks is hiring a full-time, temporary, Park Ranger Supervisor in Central Region out of the Spruce Grove District. We are looking for a Park Ranger Supervisor that is passionate about protecting the environment and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for park visitors.
- Supporting initiatives set by the Park Ranger Team Lead, the incumbent will:

- Encourage safe and sustainable outdoor recreational experiences while working to protect natural as well as cultural resource integrity.
- Maintain an overall field presence across the District with the lens to identify and resolve multi-faceted visitor conflicts through proactive prevention, education and monitoring.
- Rove campgrounds, day use areas, trails and backcountry areas by foot, bike, motor vehicle or off-highway vehicle.
- Monitor site conditions, respond to issues, and foster respectful behavior through information sharing as well as education.
- Supervise a team of seasonal Park Rangers within the District to achieve desired outcomes.
- Effectively coach and guide the team on Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) procedures as well as daily tasks while ensuring compliance with the training and regulations.
- Have a strong understanding of the _Provincial Parks Act_ and Regulations to educate visitors and stakeholders of park rules while encouraging voluntary compliance when required.
- Assist in public safety by providing support with incidents that affect park operations in both front and back country settings. This could include, supporting activities such as search and rescue, medical incidents, evacuations, area closures, fire bans, and wildlife warnings.
- Maintain constructive relationships with First Nations, facility operators, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other park staff to ensure efficient parks operations.

**Qualifications**:
Minimum Recruitment Standard:
A related two-year diploma (Natural Resources, Natural or Environmental Sciences, Recreation Management, Conservation) plus 3 years related experience (Park, Natural Resources, Wildlife, Outdoor Recreation).
- Equivalency:

- Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
- Other Requirements:

- Experience communicating and presenting to staff, stakeholders, and the public.
- Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED.
- Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent.
- Ability to lift, move, carry a minimum of 50 lb.
- Able to work and travel in various terrain and degrees of isolation in all weather conditions, sometimes for extended periods of day/night. Backcountry travel experience is an asset (i.e., hike, snowmobile, OHV, bike).
- Able to work independently without direct supervision with initiative to remain productive and support other park programs when needed.
- Supervisory experience.
- Assets:

- Requires extensive knowledge of the _Provincial Parks Act_ and Regulations.
- Training, certification and maintenance familiarity in the use of various equipment (i.e., watercraft, OHVs, snowmobiles, 4x4 vehicles, chainsaws, power and hand tools).
- Wilderness First Aid certification.
- Incident Command Systems (ICS) training.
- Confidence in using Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Supervisory or leadership experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of natural history.
- Knowledge of Alberta flora and fauna.
- Conflict management/resolution experience.
