**Job Summary**
We are seeking a dedicated Indigenous Residential School (IRS) Research Assistant, Under the direction of the IRS Manager, to contribute to vital research projects focused on the history, impact, and ongoing effects of Indigenous residential schools. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to support meaningful scholarship that promotes awareness, reconciliation, and cultural understanding. The Research Assistant will play a key role in data collection, analysis, and community engagement efforts, ensuring that Indigenous voices are accurately represented and respectfully handled throughout the research process. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about Indigenous history, social justice, and academic research.

**Duties**
- Assist with gathering archival materials, oral histories, and community-based data related to Indigenous residential schools
- Support data organization, transcription, coding, and analysis to facilitate comprehensive research outputs
- Collaborate with Indigenous communities and stakeholders to ensure respectful and ethical handling of sensitive information
- Conduct literature reviews and compile relevant academic and historical resources
- Help prepare reports, presentations, and publications that communicate research findings effectively
- Maintain detailed records of research activities, interviews, and data sets in accordance with ethical guidelines
- Contribute to the development of educational materials and outreach initiatives aimed at raising awareness about residential school history

**Skills**
- Strong understanding of Indigenous histories and cultural protocols related to residential schools
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing research data and documentation
- Effective communication skills for engaging with diverse communities and team members
- Ability to handle sensitive information with respect, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity
- Familiarity with qualitative research methods including interviews, transcription, coding, and thematic analysis
- Knowledge of relevant academic resources and archival research techniques
- Bonus skills include expertise in animal physiology or quantum engineering—though not essential—to support interdisciplinary aspects of the project
