General Warehouse Worker

Sidney, Canada West Wind Hardwood Inc. Full time

We are looking for a warehouse worker who will be responsible for varied daily tasks such as stocking lumber & plywood, accepting incoming orders, pulling and packing orders, counting inventory and ensuring orders are shipped in a timely and efficient manner. The warehouse worker is also expected to help customers select material, provide advice, tally lumber and create invoices.

Hourly wage will be negotiated based on level of experience.

**There are 3 Areas of Responsibility**:
1. Warehouse
- Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (load, pack, wrap, label, ship)
- Follow Company guidelines regarding packaging.
- Effectively deciding how to package products so that they arrive safely to their destination.
- Properly use hand tools
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Loading and unloading trucks, keeping track of incoming and outgoing material, Store and organize stock in the Yard.
- Organize and tidy lumber and plywood stock, including putting lumber into stock.
- Operate a forklift

2. Customer Service
- Greet customers and help them find the species they need.
- Provide advice related to wood species characteristics, product selection and uses.
- Tally lumber and plywood, provide pricing, and create invoices and work orders.

3. Millwork
- Occasionally assist in the millwork department. You will be responsible for catching material on saws, moulders, sanders etc. while keeping pace with the workflow.

**Personal Qualities**:
Enthusiasm and a good work ethic are a must.

Friendly and approachable demeanour to provide excellent customer service.

A team player and flexible, helping out as needed.

Must be dependable, organized, and able to communicate well and efficiently.

Must be physically able and capable of some heavy lifting.

Knowledge of the lumber/wood industry is valuable but not necessary.

Pay: $18.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
