Laborer - Finishing Department - Straight Afternoon

**Due to ongoing growth, we are currently looking for our next exceptional co-workers in a General Labourer role in our Finishing Department.**

**Rotating Shifts, days & afternoons**

**Responsibilities**:
The General Labourer is primarily responsible for providing general labour support within the finishing department by preparing the product for gluing, feeding the gluing line and packing finished products preparing for shipping.
- **Hand Stripping**_
- Remove waste board from boxes by hand, with a hammer or using the air gun as required - ensure boxes are not damaged
- Watch carefully to make sure part numbers are not inter-sorted on the skid if boxes are restocked
- Restack boxes securely to prevent them from falling over when the skid is moved
- Retain samples for jobs that are stripped and packed
- Move restacked skids aside but keep them out of main traffic areas
- Sort out non-conforming (yellow) tags that have been identified in previous processes and either discard or segregate from good products with the yellow tag in it and contact quality or the appropriate next process
- Keep area clean and neat
- **Gluer Feeder**_
- Ensure the feed is kept filled with the correct boxes to be glued
- Place boxes to be glued face down in the feeder
- Continue to load the feeder until the run is completed
- On jobs with more than one part number, make sure the first box of the new number is clearly identified with marker, so the operator and the packers are aware of the number change
- Be aware of anything unusual in the sound or look of the gluer while operating and inform the operator immediately
- **Gluer Packer**_
- Conduct packing activity at the gluing machines and the inspecting machine
- Ensure boxes are packed properly to prevent any damage during storage or transportation
- Ensure that a consistent number of boxes are packed into the corrugated cartons during the run
- Ensure only one part number is packed into each corrugated carton
- Check the factory ticket for the size of corrugated to be used and the number of boxes per carton
- Check the factory ticket for any special instruction relating to the packing

**Food Safety**
- Adopt and display a positive approach in Food Safety issues
- Foster IPB’s commitment to a high level of Food Safety, as it pertains to our products
- Understand Food Safety requirements, policies, and procedures as per relevant training, which help to ensure the consistency and safety of IPB products
- Support and develop IPB’s culture of Continuous Improvement in Food Safety, supported by open communication at and between all levels of IPB
- Bring forward any Food Safety concerns throughout IPB

**Additional**
- Sundry tasks as assigned by the Die Cutting/Finishing Area Leader or the Gluer Operators

**Requirements**:

- Secondary School Completion or GED equivalent or related skills.
- Manufacturing experience an asset

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
