**Location**: Métis Crossing, Smoky Lake, AB.
**Position Status**: Full time, Permanent
**The Opportunity**
Métis Crossing is Alberta’s first major Métis destination where we share and celebrate the Métis culture with all people With its unique design that combines both traditional and contemporary Métis craftmanship, The Lodge and Gathering Centre at Métis Crossing are a special blend of comfort, culture, and Métis history. Both offer scenic views overlooking the majestic North Saskatchewan River, the very route used by our Métis ancestors as they gathered at this very spot. The Lodge offers a Bistro for coffee and express breakfast, as well as a Lounge for cocktails and light snacks. A full service banquet kitchen within the Gathering Centre also services events and the main restaurant.
**Responsibilities**
- General ledger maintenance.
- Verify and code expenses from Smart Hotel System, InfoPOS, other softwares, and general invoices.
- Invoice processing, accounts receivable, and payable.
- Assisting managers to respond to and resolve vendor and customer queries on finance-related matters.
- Scrutinize all bills and invoices and preparation of vouchers within two days (ensuring all the bills and invoices are attached to the vouchers), and get vouchers duly approved and signed by authorized personnel.
- Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
- Reconciling bank deposits, EFT’s, credit cards, debit cards, cheques, and cash in a timely and accurate manner.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis & reporting.
- Monitoring and providing analysis for tracking of expenses to budgets.
- Closing of books at period-end and producing draft financial statements for review by Director of Finance.
- Assisting with preparation of audit schedules and files for external auditors.
- Working with Métis Crossing staff on reconciliation of data and maintenance of a database on Sage 300 in line with Smart Hotel System and InfoPOS.
- General office administration, including ensuring a professional environment in the office, support the Director of Finance in disseminating official correspondence, preparing presentations, filing and retrieving all financial, statutory, legal and insurance documents/agreements.
**Skills & Competencies**
- Minimum five years of working experience in accounting or related field, with some experience in a not-for-profit organization.
- Experience with computerized accounting systems (Sage 300 and ACCPAC), and proficiency in Microsoft Office with efficiency in MS excel.
- Knowledge of Smart Hotel System and InfoPOS is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a broad spectrum of people, including lodge/gathering centre guests, and employees at various levels of seniority.
- Self-confident, self-motivated, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, reading, and written) in English.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent ability to handle multiple tasks and administrative details in a timely manner.
**Qualifications/Competencies**
This position requires a proven level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize daily tasks and long-term objectives. Tact, diplomacy, and a commitment to teamwork are required in dealing with colleagues in an everyday working environment. Other necessary competencies include:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in finance.
- Minimum 5 years of overall operations experience.
- Knowledge of not-for-profit, for profit, and hospitality or tourism sector.
**Other Requirements**
- Availability to work a flexible evening and weekend schedule as required.
- Travel within Alberta, and less frequently, out-of-province may also occur, with notice.
- Must have a driver’s license as well as an operational vehicle.
- Must be able to obtain a Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
