We are currently looking for a General Superintendent to join our Reid’s Heritage Homes (RHH) Residential team. Working out of our head office in **Cambridge, ON**, The General Superintendent will coordinate and oversee the construction of new homes to ensure a smooth handoff to our New Warranty Care division. This position will involve all facets of design, scheduling, and quality control.
Specifically, the duties and responsibilities of the General Superintendent are:
- Manage all Construction Site team members
- Assist in the development of project design, schedules, and budgets for all assigned projects
- Review the project plans and specifications and comment on the building design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems
- Review and accept general conditions budget
- Confer with Consultants and Contractors and resolve construction problems and improve construction methods
- Assist in the preparation of weekly reports regarding status of each project including, status of construction, cost variances, unresolved items and other project related reports. Include photographs as appropriate.
- Assist in maintaining all project records per the office record keeping system
- Conduct quality control and inspections on every new home
- Ensure that relevant construction information is provided to project team and Consultants in a timely manner
- Set up all new job sites (Trailers, washrooms, etc.)
- Organize and control labour force, including all time sheets
- Conduct all performance reviews of staff
- Raise and discuss relevant issues at job site meetings with staff and sub-trades
- Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced
- Control and monitor labour, material and equipment expenses
- Maintain neat and tide construction sites
- Work closely with all inter-company departments including Warranty Home Care, Planning, Development, Sales and Marketing, Décor, Finance and People and Culture
- Other duties as assigned
**The Field Superintendent we seek will demonstrate the following qualifications**:
- Commitment to our organization’s progressive culture
- Minimum of 8 years’ low rise construction experience
- Solid understanding of the building code
- Strong technical writing and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior members of the team
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment to make decisions
- High level of integrity and dependability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project
- Ability to build and create construction schedules
- BuildPro experience a strong asset
- Class G driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
