**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Protection of premises by patrolling property; inspecting buildings, doors, windows and access points for signs of unauthorized entry
- Maintains scheduled lock-ups and re-openings of facilities
- Responds to alarms and checks alarm systems
- Respond and assist with on-site Emergency Services calls
- Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities and report incidents or problems to the appropriate authority
- Controls traffic by directing drivers
- Completes reports by recording observations, information and occurrences
- Maintains environment by monitoring building and equipment controls
- Ensures operation of security equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Interact with all levels of personnel, students and the general public in a professional manner
- Work independently as well as in a team setting
- Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
- Occasionally lift or carry up to 20 kilograms
- Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
- Climb stairs, ramps and occasionally ladders during shift

**Qualifications**:

- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Possess a valid security guard license in Ontario
- Must be a mature, organized individual with effective written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
- As a condition of employment, must successfully complete a criminal background with vulnerable sector check
- Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently
- Relevant post-secondary education is an asset
- Valid Class “G” license
