The Detox Centre of Manitoba is a welcoming community for healing where individuals, families, and friends affected by mental health and addictions are accompanied on their journey towards recovery in body, mind, and spirit. We strive to provide the best treatment and recovery programs we can, working with our partners we provide our clients with the skills needed to continue with their recovery after they are back in the community.

Reporting to the Program Manager and Director the Addictions Facilitator, this position will provide individual or group support to clients struggling with drug/alcohol addictions. Working closely with all support systems and from a First Nations cultural approach to healing and wellness to prevent relapse.

**Requirements**:

- Degree in social services with at least 2 years addiction counselling experience.
- Complete certificate and experience with addictions prevention.
- Strong understanding of the child welfare system.
- Knowledge in teaching parenting techniques and strategies.
- Experience in intake assessments and drug screening.
- Experience and Knowledge of First Nations Families and community issues facing families at risk.
- CPR First Aid and de escalation training.
- Mental Health First Aid
- Strong verbal, written and communication skills to articulate care plans to clients, support staff and professionals.
- Strong organized and time management skills are a must to work with multiple clients.
- Ability to manage conflict and remain calm and assertive.
- Ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules or client needs.
- Reliable transportation
- Must always remain professional and respectful.
- Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry check.
- First Nation applicants are encouraged to self-identify as being of First Nation descent.
- Valid drivers class 5 license

**Responsibilities**:

- Coordinate and facilitate educational holistic workshops on mental health and addiction related topics.
- To be prompt and ready to work in a positive manner,
- Follow all the rules, policies, and regulations of the Detox Centre of Manitoba.
- Work professionally creating healthy relationships and do not cross unethical boundaries with clients and co-workers.
- Provide support regarding the use and effects of alcohol and drugs.
- Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and document any changes or concerns.
- Prepare needs risk assessments and detailed reports monthly to Case Managers.
- Administer breathalyzer and drug testing.
- Ensure no unapproved visitors enter the premises and all visitors sign in.
- When responding to emergency or crisis situations and/or contact 911, Case Manager and Management.

- Ensure no drugs, alcohol or illegal substances enter the building.
- Respond to family’s questions or concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Encourage parents that children have a safe, healthy, and clean environment.
- Complete detailed reports upon completion of every shift.
- Perform administrative duties for admissions and discharge of clients.
- Provided information to clients regarding programs and resources.
- Provide companionship and engage in meaningful activities with clients.
- Provide support to individuals and groups.
- Monitor and report any changes in clients' physical or mental health to the appropriate staff members.
- Assist with transportation to appointments or outings as needed.
- Coordinate daily living activities and assist counselors in the provision of individualized treatment plans.
- Works with other staff and community partners to provide the best integrated care possible.
- Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all clients, conversations, and referrals.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of crisis management and the impact of trauma on mental health and addictions issues.
- Awareness and sensitivity of First Nations with an understanding of issues facing families at risk.
- Knowledge of case management and report writing.
- Other duties as assigned.

Negotiable base on experience and education starting $25.00 per hour.
