In this position, you will support our Project Managers in the development and delivery of Projects including the monitoring and control of scope, sub trades, budget, and schedule.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Project Managers in the coordination with consultants, general contractors, sub trades, as well as regular review of their performance on site
- Support the project team to ensure projects are being delivered safely, to the approved quality, on time and on target
- Assist the PM in the drafting and issuance of project change orders, budgets, and preliminary schedules
- Working closely with Project Managers to create supplier / sub trade Purchase Orders
- Ability to read & interpret mechanical shop drawings
- Build and maintain positive long-term business relationships/partnerships with key suppliers and internal/external clients to support the business operations and future growth of the Company
- Works with PM to understand and track the progress and quality of work being performed by trades and suppliers
- Assist the PM in the review of supplier/subtrade quotations to ensure that only fair and reasonable pricing is recommended for approval
- Track & manage contemplated change notices and change orders.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate are accurate and include all items
- Complete, send and track RFI’s
- Attend client meetings and assist with project requirements;
- Prepare project organization and communication charts;
- Attend site meetings and complete /distribute minutes to all project team members;
- Handling the distribution of project information in a timely manner; handling of project communication and information flow between all parties
- Review field inspection reports from consultants throughout the project and ensure all deficiencies are completed
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for projects by implementing company policies
- Prepare all required project close out documents;
- Perform additional assignments per PM's direction
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 3-5 years of work experience in a similar role in commercial, industrial, institutional construction
- Educational requirements include an Architectural Technology or Construction Engineering Technology or equivalent combinations of technical training, trade certificates, or related experience
- Advanced MS office Excel skills
- Working knowledge of Quick Pen Estimating Software is an asset
- Ability to assume responsibility and to interface and communicate effectively with others, have strong interpersonal skills and be self-motivated
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, an investigative approach to your work, adaptable attitude, and good negotiation skills
- Deadline oriented with ability to prioritize and plan tasks.
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Ability to adapt to ever changing priorities in a calm and professional manner
